Detection of ammonia-producing enzymes after electrophoresis: a screening procedure for adenosine deaminase in blood [proceedings].
نویسندگان
چکیده
Three ammonia-producing enzymes were selected for study, namely adenosine deaminase (adenosine aminohydrolase, EC 3.5.4.4), AMP deaminase (AMP aminohydrolase, EC 3.5.4.6) and urease (urea amidohydrolase, EC 3.5.1 3). Activities were detected after each enzyme preparation was subjected to electrophoresis on both starch gel and cellulose acetate strips. Adenosine deaminase activity had been detected in this laboratory previously after electrophoresis in both media (E. Tully & L. Walshe, unpublished work, cited by Brady & O’Connell, 1962; Noonan, 1972). The method used a simple acid-base colour change in the indicator Phenol Violet. In the present study the colour change resulting from adenosine deaminase activity was used as a control to assess the applicability of the procedure to the detection of other ammonia-producing enzymes.

P-142: Adenosine Deaminase Activity during Menses, Follicular and Luteal Phases of Menstrual Cycle
Background: In recent years, numerous regulators of gonadal function have been studied. Adenosine deaminase(ADA) is widely distributed throughout human tissues and may contribute in the regulation of menstrual cycle. The purpose of this study was to determine the plasma activities of total adenosine deaminase (ADAT), and its isoenzymes, ADA1 and ADA2, and ADA1/ADA2 ratio during the menses, foll...

The aim of this study is whether oxidative stress markers, homocysteine (Hcy), cardiac troponin I (cTnI) and the activity of adenosine deaminase (ADA) alter following administration of different doses of sertraline. Sixty male Wistar rats were assigned into four groups. Sertraline at doses of 20, 40 and 80 mg / kg / day) were administered to three groups through gastric gavage for 90 days. The ...

The present study was conducted to investigate a new pathway for the degradation of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) by Penicillium brevicompactum NRC 829 extracts. Enzymes involved in the hydrolysis of NAD, i.e. alkaline phosphatase, aminohydrolase and glycohydrolase were determined. Alkaline phosphatase was found to catalyse the sequential hydrolysis of two phosphate moieties of NAD mo...

متن کاملAssociation between Serum Adenosine Deaminase Activity and Blood Glucose Level in Gestational Diabetes
Background &Objectives: Adenosine deaminase (ADA) is a marker of T cell activation. ADA catalyzes the deamination of adenosine and modulates the bioactivity of insulin. The aim of this study was to investigate a possible relationship between ADA activity and various clinical and metabolic parameters, including fasting plasma sugar (FBS) and glycated hemoglobin (HBA1c), in gestational diabetes (...
